WUNSCHPUNSCH is French German Canadian animated program based off Michael Ende's novel, Night of Wishes, also known by the German title, Der satanarchäolügenialkohöllische Wunschpunsch (The Satanarchaeolidealcohellish Notion Potion).
In both the television program and the book, a pet raven and cat work against the clock to stop their owners, a witch and wizard, from creating chaos in their city.
In the television program (about 52 episodes), our hereos have a seven hour limit to undo a spell casted by their owners every couple of weeks.
Two pieces of a parchement help create a spell with random items thrown into a cauldron.
In the original novel, the witch and wizard have until midnight on New Year's Eve to brew and drink a potion that casts spells before a deadline. Their pets secretly attempt to tamper with the potion and stop any bad spells from being casted by their owners.
The pieces of parchment have instructions to make a wishing potion.
