UNC enacts new Health Equity Program
University of North Carolina Charlotte in a joint effort with the Stratford Richardson YMCA continues to advance health equity initiatives and improve health outcomes throughout the community. This program will increase access to clinical and behavioral health services and education in the West Charlotte area.

Researchers and students from the Department of Epidemiology and Community Health and the School of Social Work within the College of Health and Human Services will work with community personnel to determine local health needs and identify major care barriers.
This announcement was made at a Stratford Richardson event in honor of Congresswoman Alma Adams for her role in securing $2 million in federal funding for a community center and medical clinic. This effort is in part led by Shanti Kulkarni, Ph.D., Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies at the College of Health and Human Services.
